The Dargues Gold Mine was approved on the 2 September 2012 and commenced on 11 February 2013. The Project involves extraction of up to 354 000t of ore per year from an underground gold mine, together with construction and operation of associated infrastructure, including a temporary waste rock emplacement, run-of-mine pad, processing plant, tailings storage facility, site access road and ancillary infrastructure. Mining operations will run for approximately five to seven years and the Project will have a life of nine years.
A modification to the Dargues Gold Mine Project (MOD1) was approved on 12 July 2012 permitting the use of paste fill to backfill completed stopes. In November 2013, a second modification (MOD2) was approved allowing a range of minor changes to the layout of the Mine.
A further modification (MOD3) was approved on 10 August 2016 to permit the following.
- An extension of the life of the Mine.
- Construction of a new waste rock emplacement and a crossing over Spring Creek.
